The vessel's voyage |
| In 1989 Herbert Frick, shipping expert and IT specialist,
and Heiko Nocke, experienced project manager and IT specialist, launched
the "Softship" with the sole purpose of delivering IT solutions to
a singularly specific market - the shipping industry.
Throughout the years the Softship's voyages took its crew all
around the globe. The first ports of call were Hamburg and Bremen.
Soon the services were extended to other European ports (Rotterdam,
Antwerp, Le Havre, London).
In 1996 Softship Data Processing Pte Ltd was founded in Singapore
to better serve our customers in the Asian region. In the meantime
Softship Singapore ripened into an important development, production
and service location.
The conversion of Softship Hamburg from a GmbH (limited liability
company) into an AG (stock corporation) was done to help future
growth and make the company more attractive for prospective customers
and personnel.
An especially important date for the Softship is June 22nd, 2001:
the IPO at the stock exchange in Frankfurt/Main, which will greatly
contribute to future success with investment in the products, services
and sales force.
Softship expanded further and founded branches in Belgium, the
Netherlands and Argentina.
Today the Softships sail the Seven Seas to help its customers
do their business with ever increasing success. |

Softship - software for the shipping
business
|
| When in 1989 we desperately needed to name the new vessel the brainstorming
circled around the vessel's purpose: delivering software to the shipping
industry.
So, if you slur a little while repeating this central sentence, soon
enough you will have condensed it to Soft-ship. |
