In 2003 Maruba decided to enter into a strategic partnership with Softship for all operational core activities of the Head Office and its worldwide network.

'Today, Maruba consolidates operational data such as Quotations/Tariffs, Bookings and Documentation from 70 agents worldwide into the central Softship LIMA system,' says Mr. Luis Cabello, Director at Maruba’s Buenos Aires Head Office.

He adds: 'Softship’s LIMA system organises the enforcement of our tariff guidelines worldwide and professionally ensures that only approved rates can be used to feed our booking and documentation database.'

Softship’s LIMA solution is installed at Maruba’s Buenos Aires Head Office and receives data from Softship’s ALFA solution for Agents which runs in various countries throughout South America, Central America, Asia and Europe.

Equipment is one of the key financial factors for every Line Operator. Maruba handles more than 100,000 units using Softship’s CMC Equipment Control System and receives movement reports from 700 depots, terminals and agents online or via EDI messages, which are automatically checked and electronically imported, to keep Maruba’s Equipment database up to date.

'Online stock availability via the Internet for all our agents worldwide is made possible through Softship’s Container Tracking System,' adds Mr. Cabello.

Maruba entrusted the handling of all worldwide Equipment Repairs and Surveys to Softship’s M&R system SMARTS.

'This online platform interactively connects more than 100 repair depots to our central server in Buenos Aires and helps us achieve significant cost reductions in repairs and an increase in Equipment Profitability,' says Mr. Cabello, and further explains: 'A fully integrated enterprise-wide system is a key factor to success for a Shipping Line.
