NileDutch's Softship solution LIMA is up and running. Managing director Jan-Willem de Braal speaks about the project:
November 2011
As the demand for packaged software continues to grow, we are pleased to find ourselves welcoming a new customer. In early October, we signed a contract with a newly established shipping firm headquartered in the West African state of Angola.
This new company – Angocab SA – is based in the city of Luanda and is planning to provide liner services for passengers and freight between the Angolan ports of Luanda, Cabinda, Soyo, Lobito and Namibe. Angocab’s first vessels are expected to join the service in November.
Signing the contract with Angocab’s Technical Director, José M. M. Galante, was Softship’s Regional Sales Director, Patrick Schmiedehaus who said:
“Our products have been developed to suit all sizes of liner operator and we are delighted to have been selected to install our software into such an exciting start-up operation. Angocab has elected to take LIMA with LINE, CMC, AIDA and VOYCES and this will equip them well to handle their initial and continuing operations. Angocab has asked us to host the solution which means they don’t need to invest in expensive hardware or back-up systems. It also allows us to provide 24/7 remote support for them. ”
In addition to the LINE application, we are also developing a web-based passenger booking system to allow Angocab’s passenger customers to book their journeys online. This will form part of a new-look website that we are also developing for Angocab.

Recognising an urgent and critical business requirement for container and general cargo operator Merchant Shipping, the Softship team installed and implemented its CMC software into this new client’s offices in just one week.
Merchant Shipping operates specialised container services from Australia to Asia as well as wider round-the-world routes and bulk services. Rapid business expansion has out-grown existing software and Softship was called upon to install its state-of-the-art solutions.
The key issue for Merchant Shipping was keeping track of its own stock of expensive, reinforced half-height boxes. The CMC module was quickly installed in the Melbourne head-office and connected by internet to branch offices in Brisbane, Townsville and Perth. Softship’s LINE and AIDA have also been installed and will be rolled-out over the coming weeks.
This is the first new client to be acquired through the efforts of the new Sydney office and Softship looks forward to continuing to grow its presence in that part of the world.
